When I left Shell they provided an external leaving consultant – an “exit counsellor”. I only met him a couple of times but he suggested that Listening was a skill that most Shell managers need to acquire when they leave… He added that the Samaritans have excellent training for this.
I volunteered for the Samaritans and Clinks Care Farm. I still volunteer for MIND and the Friends of Clinks Care Farm. I go to plays and concerts, Art Galleries and Museums, all more than when I worked. I read a few more books than I did before I retired.
I started writing. I had a go at Art and Philosophy – but not at the same time.
